What I do:
- building AI for construction at developiq.ai
- cs @ rose-hulman '23
- prev founder @ drophouse.ai (we sold t-shirts)
Lore (this is one of the cooler things i've done):
After the t-shirt company, I moved to San Francisco to explore a new idea (drove across the country, spent 3 weeks in Park City, Utah, it was great). The idea of bringing AI to a legacy industry was naturally appealing, so I started attending random conferences and yapping to people. Construction stood out, it felt huge and under-served, and I enjoyed talking to them.
I didn't actually know anything about construction, and conversations were only taking me so far. So somehow, after 100s of Reddit and LinkedIn DM's, I landed a job with a company out in Indiana. I spent a month working for them in a trailer out in the middle of nowhere.
It was hard at first, with even my Uber driver asking me what I was doing there. But I stuck it out, and it ended up being a great experience. And now we're building AI for construction.
rando/everything:
- favourite book: tied between the kite runner and the like switch
- hobbies: chess, soccer, running, building
- 5x hackathon winner - built some cool stuff with agents & mcp
What I believe:
- knowledge compounds exponentially
- halo effect is real
- keep score
- incentives are super powers
- relentlessly prune BS
- high agency = clear thinking × bias to action × disagreeability
- beware of cognitive biases
I think AI is our best bet at ascending the Kardashev scale
